GREAT WESTERN SHOOTOUT: Knights pound Angels

* Lone Peak 84, Denver East (Colo.) 58: The Knights made it a clean sweep for the Utah teams as they demolished the No. 1 squad from Colorado in the final game of the evening.
In particular, the retooling football players were much more on their hoops game tonight than in last Friday's season opener. Chase Hansen was really good down low on both ends, accounting for eight points and nine rebounds.
Brody Berry scored nine with five assists and Talon Shumway tallied 12 points and five boards with minutes limited by foul trouble. Both had solid all-around floor games. Reserve Conner Toolson added 11 points off the bench, including three treys.
Of course, Lone Peak also got good production from its super guard line. Nick Emery didn't shoot especially well for him, but still contributed a game-high 23 points, including a trio of long bombs. He also had six rebounds.
TJ Haws did a great job of running the floor and ended up adding 17 points and seven boards.
"We'll take that one," said Knight coach Quincy Lewis. "This shows the kind of talent we have. Everybody's a scorer on this team and goes after the ball defensively.
"We still have lots of things to work on, but when we play this way, it makes us very, very hard to contain," he concluded.
