So this last week was Thanksgiving we had a great Thanksgiving with lots of great food and family. Miriah and I made Pie, Pie, Pie mostly banana cream. She really likes to help me cook. Hollie was at work or she would of helped too. We also made the rolls and a big salad. Everything tasted so wonderful. During the time at grandma's, grandpa had us all tell things we were grateful for. The Story's went back to when Grandpa and grandma went to get Chad from his mission in Brazil.
They remember getting there and having Chad waiting with a dozen yellow roses for grandma at the airport. When they got back to the office, they are introduced to all the missionaries that are being released. One of them was an Elder Numbers who had served in some of the same areas as Chad. Grandpa had made the comment that Numbers is not a very common name and the Elder told him he was from Salt Lake. Later as they were driving in the taxi, he and grandpa got talking and grandpa told him that when he was on his mission in Ohio he knew a Numbers family that they had been teaching but then he got transferred. The only name he could remember was Marty. Then Elder Numbers said Marty is my Dad, his grandparents were from Ohio. Elder Numbers is the 6th missionary to go from his family.
How we got on the story is I can't really remember other that we got talking about seeds in an apple. When George Mills died 17 years ago, a man showed up at his funeral with a picture of a single apple and gave it to Merrie's mom. Aunt Merrie has used the seeds of an apple in many talks. You can count the seeds in an apple, but you can not count the apples in a seed. You never know where you are planting seeds.
Grandpa has always been so grateful for the Wade and Mason families that helped him along the way and got him on a mission. Just looking at our family and the missionaries that have gone and the seeds that have been planted. How many missionaries have gone from our family, the Numbers family....
Thankful for good parents, friends, bishops, teachers that have planted good seeds. It made me think of Uncle Todd's testimony again as they all talked about the seed that come back to be thankful for what you have done for them.
A good bishop that called Todd to be the first assistant and made him a promise that if he would put the Lord first in his life, He would provide the way. Todd had not even been going to church when the bishop called him in since he worked every Sunday. When he excepted the call he went to apply for a new job and was hired on the spot at the groceries store where he would not have to miss church. The seeds that were planted, put Todd is a position that he would meet Lori and get married. They have sent two missionaries, Todd's family is now active in the church and his brother also has a son on a mission. The seeds...
