Yet it was Brody Berry and Chase Hansen, and Shumway’s defensive work, that got the most praise after their inside effort against Jaguar center Jordan Loveridge. The senior big man ended with a game-high 24 points and 12 rebounds, but struggled in the second half after the Knights went zone, defensively.
Berry, a 6-foot-2 guard, finished with 12 defensive rebounds as Hansen and Shumway spent most of the night simply trying to box out the bigger Loveridge. It worked enough, as the Knights held the edge in rebounding until the final minutes when the game was well in hand.
